To the Bereny Bugle,
Please let me shed some light on a rumour started by, as I understand, a misinformed journalist of the Bugle.
The Vampire King referred to in our documents is not a king as people in Bereny would understand this. Within the vampire race, relative power is dictated by the purity of one's blood or, in other words, direct offspring from the original vampire (note that whether this is a gift, a curse, or a disease is yet to be determined).
A vampire king as such is the one of purest blood, closest to the original vampire. Within The Council his voice caries more weight than that of the others because of the life experience one of the purest blood will have (although The Council is not a dictatorial organization). As such, this bears no relation to the term "king" used by His Grace.
Nonetheless, at present none of pure blood has been found.

Dear Mr Editor,
I feel it incumbent upon me to air my sense of grievance to the whole of Bereny. I am a newly ennobled landed Baroness, thanks largely to the kind intervention of a certain Royal person who cannot be named. I won’t bore you with my rags to relative riches story, suffice to say that I arrived at my new Estate 3 days ago, rather expecting a welcome from the neglected staff.
Imagine my dismay to find the Estate crawling with itinerant rogue Farmers and Wagons, busily despoiling my land, apparently under the control of a not unknown Oakenman, called Woody, standing in my Hamlet of Tall Oaks <sic>. Strangely, on the day after my arrival, virtually all the plunderers (except Woody and his one Farmer) withdrew eastwards to stand in a dead straight line on my eastern Fence.
I sent a stern warning via various magical media and a friend of Woody’s passed on a message, to the effect that he had not stirred his roots for 5 days or so, that the Farmer was only standing on rough land, and that he would vacate as soon as possible. Whilst this is a tacit admission of guilt, it is honest and conciliatory. I also heard from another embattled Estate owner that he was suffering similar problems, so we think the robbers are organised.
However, the very next day, the rest of the horde (comprising 5 Wagons and 11 Farmers but no Adventurers) returned to central areas of the Estate and have resumed their depredations. Since I have now issued two fair warnings, I shall be attacking these thieves with all the resources at my disposal. Perhaps the mysterious controller of the criminals imagines they have little to fear from a lone Female Enchantress ? If so, they are in a for a big surprise !

Now look, you fine mode of event transmission, the reporting of the banquet was far too beneficial to the political arse, sorry, farce, that is your government.
Bereny cannot decide who or what rules it, the guilds sit on their arses and accuse each other of doing twonk all and overall the only thing that keeps you together are the meat and gristle of the adventuring fraternity.
Well tough poopoo, someone soon is going to sort it all out because you cannot do so. You have a fine land and a fine people and they deserve better.
A noble heritage of kings sent down the drain due to dallying with the undead and the servants, politics taken up by people who want an extra acre rather than safe lands. You deserve all the manure you get, and I AM THE MAN WITH THE NEW SHOVEL!
Prepare for proper leadership, for the times are changing. I can do the job, I can lead you to a secure future.
Bernard Happipigg.
PS Tell me why I am wrong, or let me have an open forum to address your problems? Perhaps using this fine rag as mediator?

To The Editor, The Bereny Bugle
Madam
A recent article in your publication described me as the Chairman of The Council of Guilds. In this it was erroneous. I was the Chairman some months ago, but the Chairmanship of the Council rotates around each Guild in turn. At the time of your article the Chairman was Chaldan Ironhoof of the Centaur Council, and the current Chairman is Baron Solas of the IGW.
Whilst I have no doubt that my fellow guild leaders share my concerns about the lackadaisical approach to security that seems to be rife in the Royal Bureaucracy, my comments were not made on behalf of the Council, but only of myself and The Assembly.
Archmage Sylvester
