SNOW PLAGUE CLAIMS VICTIMS IN BERENY

A virulent disease has arrived in the Kingdom from the Southern Glaciers. The epicentre of the outbreak is the city of White Citadel, the southernmost in Bereny, and the city authorities have already taken action to isolate and treat those affected.
Concern began to grow when Glacier Folk recently began arriving at the gates of White Citadel suffering from a terrible wasting sickness. The sickness has become known as the Snow Plague, partly because of its southern origins, and partly because it turns its victim's skin a pasty white. Those afflicted rapidly waste away and die.
Already other cases are being reported in Frostward, and even as far north as Mirrormane,

In the Glaciers themselves the disease is apparently spreading from tribe to tribe amongst the Vanaheim. Its origin remains unknown
Physicians and alchemists working with the sick in White Citadel are reported to have developed a cure, but in its present form it is hugely expensive and difficult to manufacture and is unsuitable for mass medication of the population. It is however being offered to any that will volunteer to venture into the Glaciers to seek the source of the outbreak.
Comparisons are inevitably being made with the Plague of Ghorst, which killed thousands in that city a decade ago, and some are remembering rumours that it was a manufactured plague unleashed on Bereny by the minions of the Demon Jennata. The Snow Plague bears some resemblance to that plague and speculation has grown that this too may be deliberate, and if not directed at Bereny then possibly directed at the Vanaheim.
